Just wanted to clarify how it all works on show weekend with the children being backstage and tickets for the show…..
Baby Ballet class
If your child is in Baby Ballet they will need an adult (mum/dad/grandparent) to stay with them backstage for the entire show. The children in baby ballet get changed upstairs in the big hall once they are ready they are taken (with their adult) to sit and watch the show from the balcony, they are then called when it is time for them to go on stage. the majority of adults will stay on the balcony to watch and 4 adults will take all the children to the stage and then bring them back when they are done. You may then either take them home at the interval or stay for the finale which is at the end of the 2nd half. (mermaids – sat 9:00 class who would like to be involved in the pre finale dance will stay put and wait to be called again). The adult that stays with their child backstage do not need a ticket.
All Other Children….
All the other children in the show will be given a group (red/green/blue etc) Each group will have 2/3 chaperones depending on the size of the group. We always try to keep children with their friends and where possible with a Chaperone they know. Your child will be given a time they need to sign in before the show. The chaperones will then sign the children in and take them to the dressing room and look after them and help them get ready for the show and you will be free to go. At the end of the show the chaperones bring the children to the front of the theatre and sign the children out.
Chaperones
If you would like to volunteer to be a chaperone please could you let me know which show’s you would like to help at. We must have 10 Licensed chaperones per show – if anyone would like to take an online chaperone safeguarding course (its free) please let me know – you will also get a free DBS check if you are able to do this. Now the minimum number of licensed chaperones we need is 10 but I think the more we have the better so if you can spare half an hour and have access to a computer we would really appreciate you taking the course.
If you are able to chaperone in the dress rehearsals and or the shows please could you let me know which shows you can help at? Please also let me know if you have a current DBS and or first aid certificate.
The quicker I know who is available to chaperone the quicker I can sort out a rota which should help everybody plan!
Thanks, Jess
